The Simleu Synagogue project may be looked at as a Jewish - Romanian heritage project; meant to preserve, restore and renovate a dilapidated Transylvanian synagogue in need of desperate repairs. The intended program will entail local involvement; serving as a library and a community center, combined with a Jewish Museum: thereby highlighting a portion of Transylvania's rich history and to educate the local population about their once Jewish neighbors.

In a town as intimate as Simleu Silvaniei, the transformation of this "untouchable" monument should engage the structure, beckoning community involvement. The local Christian community would learn to embrace their past and come to acknowledge and respect the vibrant Jewish population that once walked their very streets.
